Pantomime acting draws upon everyday life experiences and Charlie accurately portrayed all ‘moments in life’ without uttering a sound. His face and body came alive with human emotions to express happiness and yes, pathos. Our connection with him still remains as strong as the bond between mother and child. This is why Charlie Chaplin was a genius.

And as great artist does, the ‘little tramp’ inspired me to compose three original musical scores to accompany this amazing silent movie offering. I present hundreds of silent movie shows a year with live piano accompaniment to corporate events, public schools, colleges, libraries and community centers. During these presentations, I am always pleased with the connection the audiences make when the two dimensional films they are watching come alive with my musical accompaniment. ‘Stock and trade’ silent movie ‘mood music’ works well for most movies, but I wanted to dig deeper to find a way of underscoring the essence of what Charlie was all about.
